It is said that the Ultimate Luxury is to combine passion and contribution. It's also a very clear path to happiness. And YES, Mozilla helped me taste it for the first time.
Every person has a longing to be significant, to make a contribution, to be a part of something noble and purposeful. Having joined Firefox Student Ambassadors Program, i experienced the purpose of being purposeful in real sense.
24th of June was my first Mozilla session in Hyderabad. We had our session at Government High School in Ameerpet.
We had an oppurtunity to teach the students of tenth. I went along with mozilla representatives Harsha Vardhan,Sujith and few Mozilla friends.
Our main motive was to teach them about browser,internet and how should they use it safely. There were around 60-70 students. They were very excited on seeing us. They welcomed us with their bright charming faces.Their enthusiasm and cheer motivated us.
They had no facility of internet and computers.We gave them a brief picture of what a computer is.Later,we showed them how laptops work and after looking at them personally they had bright smiles on their faces.
I explained them how we can search whatever we need on the internet. It seemed like a magic box to them.
We gave them introduction about how the internet works.
As they didn't have much idea about how the internet works,they were very keen in listening.
We gave them a list of do's and dont's to ensure safety on the internet.
By looking at their response we wanted to teach more and they wanted to learn more.
It was a PERFECT match :)
We ended the session by clicking pictures with the kids and giving them some goodies! The kids were happy with our interaction and they wanted us to come back.
The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.Thank you Mozilla for making me a part of turning somebody's mirrors to windows !!
